Astra Trees is now run by the Whalley family after taking over the reins from the retiring Neil and Sharon Painter.  The new team will strive to continue the excellent quality and high standard of work that Astra customers have come to expect.   Let us introduce ourselves ..............

Tom has been a full time tree surgeon for the last ten years, six of which were spent in Melbourne Australia before returning to the UK to work for an established tree company locally.   Tom has grown up in the arboricultural and horticultural environment working weekends and school holidays as a youngster on the family nursery and learning the ropes in his father's  tree company.   He has a well rounded understanding of outdoor industry, utilising a wide range of skills together with a can-do approach to get the job done on time and to the highest standards.

Keith has a lifetime of experience in horticulture and the greenest thumbs around.  He started work as a market gardener on his father's nursery before moving into commercial tomato and cut flower production before finally specialising in the growing of herbacious perennials for the garden centre trade.  An abundance of tree and plant knowledge led Keith to start his own successful tree surgery and landscaping company which he ran for 20 years alongside his thriving nursery business, culminating in a happy retirement a number of years ago.  Keith has been re-enlisted into the working environment to pass valuable business knowledge to his son in his new endeavour.

Jane runs the show behind the scenes and makes sure that her husband and son are where they need to be, when they need to be.  Coming from an office background specialising in marketing and publicity before joining the family business,  Jane has all the skills to keep this business running smoothly and seamlessly.
